Health-related quality of life (HRQOL) in cancer research is critical to more comprehensively evaluate patients’ perception of the impact of cancer therapy and their health status on quality of life. American Society of Clinical Oncology acknowledged HRQOL as a key treatment outcome, and it has subsequently been used as a primary or secondary end point across all cancer trials. The goal of this article is to outline key statistical aspects of HRQOL analyses and to highlight future research challenges.
